Home sales flatten, prices up in Tucson

Tucson-area home sales were essentially flat in July, while prices nudged upward, according to the latest figures from the Tucson Association of Realtors Multiple Listing Service.

Total unit sales of listed homes fell slightly to 1,470 in July, but were running 25 percent ahead of last year, the Realtors said.

The average sale price declined 4 percent from June, at $220,570 in July, while last month’s average was up 2.6 percent from July 2014.

The median home sale price — a measure that reduces the effect of very low and very high sale prices — rose about 1 percent in July and was nearly 3 percent above the median a year earlier.

New listings fell 10.7 percent from June, while total active listings of 4,798 represented a 3.9 percent decrease from June. The average number of days listed homes are on the market increased to 61 in July from 60 in June, the Realtors said.

Wright House plans: weddings and tours

PHOENIX — Early plans for a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed house in the Arcadia neighborhood envision the home as a visitors’ destination, including a shaded garden and underground education center for tours, performances and weddings.

Sitemaps and a list of property use submitted to the city are the first official look at how the owner of the David and Gladys Wright House intends to open it to the public.

Wright designed the house for his son and daughter-in-law. After the couple died the house was sold without historic protection.
