George H. Amos Scholarships Awarded
Tucson Realty & Trust Co. proudly congratulates the recipients of the George H. Amos Scholarship for 2015. The recipients are:
Sierrane Gatela, pursuing a B.S. in Sustainable Built Environments at the College of Architecture, Planning, and Landscape Architecture at the University of Arizona. Ms. Gatela will be in her fourth undergraduate year and states she is an aspiring urban planner and plans to pursue and Accelerated Master’s Program for Urban Planning.
Houston Harris, majoring in Sustainable Built Environments with a minor in Sustainable Plant Systems at the University of Arizona. Ms. Harris plans to work as a conservationist and landscape architect in the future. Ms. Harris is part of the UA class of ’16
Christopher Oglesbee, majoring in Urban and Regional Development. Mr. Oglesbee states his interests include urban growth, city planning, public health, environmental studies and regional development. Mr. Oglesbee was also a 2014 recipient of the scholarship.
The George H. Amos Scholarship was established in honor of George H. Amos. Amos, who was working at Tucson Realty & Trust Co. in its founding year, 1911, eventually rose to become President and Chairman of the firm until his death in 1976. The stewardship of the firm was assumed by his son George H. Amos, Jr., known as “Buddy” and later by his grandson George H. Amos III, known as “Hank”. Today, Tucson Realty & Trust Co. continues its long tradition of dedication to the Tucson community and to the next generation of business leaders.
The George H. Amos Scholarship is awarded to University of Arizona students majoring in business with a particular focus on urban and regional development.
